Privacy Policy

The Coworker Solidarity Fund (the “Fund”, “we” or “us”) has established this privacy policy to provide you with more power over your personal information and to explain to you how your information is protected, collected and used. This privacy policy applies to personal information (defined below) about you that we collect on coworkerfund.org (or the “Site”), use and otherwise process regarding you. It may be updated by us from time to time.

Protecting your privacy

Your Personal Information is not shared with any third parties without your consent except as noted below. This website uses cookies and other devices to track your use of the site. Cookies are small files that store information about your account, web browser, computer, mobile phone, or other device. Most companies and many organizations on the web use cookies to enable special features or to provide you with a better, faster, or safer experience. We use cookies to make the site better and easier to use; to provide you with a more personalized experience; and to protect you, others, and the Site from malicious activity. You can remove or block cookies using the settings in your browser.

The Fund does not knowingly collect information from individuals under the age of 16.

The Site may include links to third party websites, and such websites will have different privacy policies than those set forth herein. We disclaim all responsibility for compliance with the privacy policies of those third party websites, and strongly urge all users of the Site to review such third party privacy policies.

Data we collect and store

We collect personal information about you whenever you use our services (whether these services are provided by us or by other companies or agents acting on our behalf). We collect your email address if you choose to provide it.

We may additionally track data relating to your behavior on the Site.  Our web server logs collect information for each page served, including your IP address, page URL, your login, and timestamp. Web logs help us to diagnose problems with our server, to administer our website, and to otherwise provide our services to you.

We make good faith efforts to store all collected data in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, although we cannot guarantee complete security. All of our collected data resides on servers in the United States.

How we may use your data

We may share your Personal Information with affiliated third parties (for example, our database administrators) for the sole purpose of helping us do our work. These groups do not share your Personal Information or use it for any purpose other than as instructed by us.

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary set forth herein, the Fund: (1) may disclose information about its users if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process; and (2) may also disclose information about its users to law enforcement officers or others, in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) enforce our Terms of Service; (b) respond to claims that any posting or other content violates the rights of third-parties; (c) or protect the rights, property, or personal safety of the Fund, its users or the general public.

In the event that the Fund is involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. The promises in this Privacy Policy will apply to your information as transferred to the new entity.

Other sites’ search engines and other websites unaffiliated with the Fund may archive or otherwise make available information publicly displayed on our website.

How long do we keep personal information?

We will keep your information for as long as we need it for the purpose it is being processed for. The information may also be retained so that we can continue to improve your experience with us.

We will actively review the information we hold and delete it securely, or in some cases anonymize it, when there is no longer a legal, business or customer need for it to be retained. If you stop interacting with us as a user, we will remove or anonymize your information after 7 years.

What countries will your personal information be sent to?

As noted above, all of the data collected by the Fund resides on servers in the United States. However, your personal information may be sent to you and third parties in countries outside the country, and may be stored by third parties in countries outside the country in which you are located and outside the U.S., the European Economic Area and the UK. International users, by visiting our Site and providing us with data, acknowledge and agree that due to the international dimension of any website, including the Site, we may use the data collected in the course of our relationship for the purposes identified in this policy or in our other communications with you, including the transmission of information outside your resident jurisdiction. In addition, please understand that such data may be stored on servers located in the United States. By providing us with your data, you consent to the transfer of such data.

Consent

Each communication we send by email will have an unsubscribe option which will allow you to indicate you do not desire to receive further emails. We aim to implement any unsubscribe or stop requests within 10 working days of receiving those requests, but it is possible you will receive some emails or texts in the period prior to that change being made. You also can withdraw your consent to the processing by the Fund at any time by sending an email request to [email protected].

Requesting a copy of your personal information

You may request a copy of any personal data about you held by the Fund. There is no fee for this request.

The request must be in writing and must contain the following:

  • Your name and mailing address so we can verify your identity.
  • Your signature and the date of the request
  • If you are applying on behalf of another person then signed authority from the individual is required.
  • Details of your request.

Please send your request to:

Coworker Solidarity Fund
PO Box 1861

What may you request in relation to the personal information we hold about you?

You may make certain requests in relation to your personal information. This includes a request to: access the personal information we hold on you (except to the extent it may contain personal information of others who have not consented to disclosure to you or information that is legally privileged); to request that we correct your personal information (the “right of rectification”) if that information is incorrect; and to request erasure of the personal information that identifies you (the “right to be forgotten”).

Responses by the Fund will be provided within one month and generally there is no fee for making these requests. If your request is particularly complicated we may extend the deadline for responding to three months, but we will let you know if this is the case. The Fund will handle all requests in accordance with applicable law. However, depending on the right you wish to exercise, and the nature of the personal information involved, there may be legal reasons why we cannot grant your request. If, in response to your request, we remove personal information that identifies you from the data we hold in our active system, we will retain a separate and restricted copy of the identifying information for 7 years.

How will we inform you of changes to this Privacy Policy?

If we change this privacy Policy, we will let you know about the changes by publishing the updated version on the Site. We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy and will continue to do so in any future changes we make to this Privacy Policy.

If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us [email protected].
