Emergency Fund for Netflix and Apple Workers

If you are a current, or former, employee or contractor of Netflix or Apple and have taken action to improve your workplace, apply for up to $5,000 in financial support today! Whether you need space and materials for your organizing committee, tools for your campaign, help with legal fees or income lost, we’ve got your back.

If you are a worker in tech looking for financial assistance for organizing in a different workplace other than Netflix or Apple, click here.

You are eligible to apply if you meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

  • You are, or were, a worker at Netflix or Apple regardless of job function;
  • You are, with your coworkers, building collective power or pressuring those in positions of power within Netflix or Apple to make lasting change to improve working conditions in the tech sector, and may benefit from financial support to succeed;
  • You are 18 years or older;
  • You have a social security number (SSN) or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN);
  • You have not previously received a stipend from the Fund. At this time we are only accepting first time applicants, but depending on additional funds raised, we hope to make the fund available for workers to reapply; and
  • You have a US bank account.

At this time, funding is only available for individuals and not organizations.

About the Application Process

Submit Application.  Click the apply now button above, and fill out the application with the most compelling information you can share for your request to be considered. The application should take 10-20 minutes to complete and can be completed on any device. After receiving the number of applications that our funding will allow, we will provide a waitlist application where you can apply for future support.

Application Review. Eligible applications are reviewed by the Tech Worker Committee and Fund Staff who evaluate the applications based on the eligibility criteria (above) and the acceptance criteria below in deciding whether or not to recommend funding. This criteria was developed by the Worker Committee, the Fund’s board and staff, in close coordination with Netflix and Apple workers.

Since this in an emergency fund, applications with urgent and time-sensitive needs will be prioritized for review. Prioritization in review order may result in prioritization of funding if there are more requests than funds available. If funding is available after processing higher-priority applicants, applicants will not be rejected solely for not having urgent or time-sensitive needs. Urgent and time-sensitive needs include:

  • Legal funds for current or newly arisen issues
  • Urgent financial need arising from loss of employment benefits due to termination of employment or suspension of benefits, such as COBRA healthcare premiums, therapy provided by an Employee Assistance Plan (EAP), etc.
  • Income replacement for alleged illegal terminations
  • Other needs resulting from current retaliation or harassment (privacy services to remove information to prevent doxxing, moving costs or medical needs due to harassment, etc.)

Acceptance Criteria:

  • The extent to which an individual’s actions further the Fund's mission of fighting for a safer and more equitable tech industry;
  • The extent to which an individual’s actions are aligned with the Fund’s values, including collective liberation from white supremacy, patriarchy, and other systems of oppression.
  • The availability of funds;
  • Anything else the Worker Committee deems relevant.
  • Unfortunately, not all applications that meet this criteria will be approved.
  • The Fund will consider an individual’s application as well as any information about the individual publicly available or previously known to members of the Fund.
